SHORT & SWEET

Made a promise in august to play nov. 12 in eau claire, mn... so planned a 5 day trip, and added a few dates on top... done the trip many times and left early thursday... with very limited money and an even tighter schedule...

...there is something about hitting the road, even for a short jump, that frees the mind, engages the senses and jumps you into the madness... and things are already moving along by the time i hit pittsburgh... Mission of Burma on the CD, a full tank of gas and a light traffic flow that puts me in cleveland in a heartbeat... I want to stop in and say howdy to Rene at The Brillo Box and Kevinf Finn from Finn Man Studios but I am tryin' to make chicago in a day and spend some time in Milwaukee...

CHICAGO BOUND

...the farther from home the more interesting it all gets.. and tripping during the week is cool because the endless asphalt becomes the milieu of every salesman, travel club, high school band and prison escapees in the transit groove... And more time to really examine the highways and the roads that lead off them... and the design and flow of the ohio tollbooths and the sometimes dramatic change in texture, color and grade of the asphalt from one state to another... the sky starts to really come alive around indiana and it is dramatic... a gateway to the midwest and here the horizon becomes huge, the sky vast and endless, and it changes to a soft, scalloped beach turned upside down, floated above me and colored pink, purple and flame red... just floating...
