SATURDAY, AUGUST 22 • GALLOWAYS at FEARRINGTON VILLAGE • 5:00 PM

Some people collect stamps. Eric Sommer collected tour buses, dive bars, standing ovations, and a few spectacularly bad decisions.

For one night, Eric Sommer brings all of it to Galloways.

From Boston punk clubs to international tours with Little Feat, John Mayall, John Hammond Jr., Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, and stages shared with everyone from The Cars to Gang of Four, Eric has spent decades chasing songs instead of common sense… and the audience is better for it.

Expect blistering acoustic guitar, greasy electric slide, stories that probably shouldn’t be told in public, and songs that’ll make you laugh one minute and stop you cold the next. It’s equal parts concert, comedy, road diary, and front-row seat to a life lived at full volume.

Galloways is the perfect room for this show—intimate enough to catch every note, every grin, and every punchline. No giant stage. No giant screens. Just one guy, a couple of guitars, and forty years of musical trouble.

The Midwest Record nailed it:

“This multi-instrumentalist bad boy could easily be a superstar in his own right… mixing organic writing and playing skills with personality, he has what it takes to be a massive, under-the-radar treat… already an underground star.”

This is Eric Sommer unplugged… and occasionally plugged in. The Fabulous Piedmonts might wander in if the stars align, but don’t count on it. Count on an unforgettable night instead.

Here’s the only warning:

This room isn’t huge. When it’s full, it’s full.

Grab a table. Order something excellent. Bring friends who love real music, great guitar playing, and stories they won’t hear anywhere else.

Saturday, August 22 • 5:00 PM • Galloways at Fearrington Village

One night. One room. No safety net.

Come see what happens when a lifetime of music refuses to behave.

Because next week everyone will be talking about the show… and you really don’t want to be the one saying, “I meant to go.”

I think this version creates more urgency, raises the stakes, and sells the experience rather than just the performance. The “No safety net” and “I meant to go” ending gives people a reason to commit now instead of assuming they’ll catch you another time.

Open Tunings, and so much more

With open tunings, slide guitar, lap-slap tone guitar, this show is exciting. And a remarkably aggressive fingering style approach makes watching Eric Sommer so fun and crazy! It’ll make you jump out of your seat and holler for joy! There are very few players who have maintained this authentic American style of guitar and Eric Sommer is one of the very best…!
